We have seating for formal and informal dining as well as a large outdoor terrace with wonderful views with tables and chairs for all to enjoy some al fresco dining. Our formal dining room offers charm and character with original flagstone flooring, as well as a log burner to keep you & your guests warm and cosy.

The gorgeous kitchen offers plenty of space, with 2 large breakfast tables, a traditional 5 door Aga, separate conventional cooking facilities, 2 fridges and freezers and 2 dishwashers, making preparations for meals & celebrations a joy!

The original wide staircase leads from the main hallway up to the first and second floors where 10 bedrooms are located. Each of our bedrooms have been individually decorated to compliment the style of the house and our guest’s needs. We have a mixture of en-suites and shared bathrooms scattered throughout both floors.

With parking outside the front of the house and in the courtyard at the back of the house, there is plenty of parking for all the guests.

From the central courtyard you can access our large boot room which is also a perfect place for dogs to stay, an additional shower room and on the second floor is our Media room with table tennis, a 65” TV and a toy cupboard. There is even a darts board if you are keen to throw a few arrows!

The Cottage is accessed separately and is home to 2 cosy bedrooms and its own open plan living space with a log burner and a small kitchen with hob, oven and fridge.

Wormsley Grange is surrounded by rolling hills and idyllic landscapes. The main walled garden is located at the rear of the property and consists of a vast expanse of lawn with neat walkways and stepped terraces. The house sits within 4.5 acres of grounds and there is a further 200 acres of farmland and woods to explore - please be mindful of the wildlife and farm animals!

Just a little History

Wormsley Grange has a long history, dating all the way back to the 12th century, when it is believed the surrounding land was first cultivated. Wormsley Priory was then founded for Canons Regular of St. Augustine by a member of the Talbot family, probably in the reign of King John. It was positioned a few hundred yards below the current house and few signs remain today other than a series of dry sinkings, representing fish-ponds and an irregular bank, perhaps representing the precinct enclosure. There are two further ponds about 200 yards S.S.W. of the house.

In the early years of the priory many gifts of the land were given for its upkeep, and it soon became a thriving medieval hamlet, the monks farming mostly sheep on the rich grass fields that lay around them.

The original Priory was demolished and it is thought that some of the original materials were used to construct Wormsley Grange.

Wormsley Grange has seen various families come and go over the years, the most notable being the Knight family. It was birth place to Richard Payne Knight, the famous landscape theorist and his brother Thomas Andrew Knight, the renowned horticulturalist who planted his hugely successful experimental fruit orchards in the grounds.

Thomas Andrew Knight was responsible for developing much of the fruit and vegetables that we enjoy today now, by creating disease resistant varieties. He wrote and published a book called ‘The Culture of the Apple and Pear, and on the Manufacture of Cider and Perry’. We didn’t want the knowledge of Thomas’s work to perish with time so we have incorporated a pear into our brand to show our proud heritage!

Both Richard Payne Knight and Thomas Andrew Knight are buried in the churchyard at Wormsley Church.

More recently the house has been used as a country retreat, lived in by various tenant farmers and most recently, as a family home. It now enters a new phase  and will hopefully create many more happy memories for people who come to stay, relax, enjoy and celebrate.
